What Does It Mean To Heal?
Etymologically, the word ‘to heal’ is rooted in the word ‘whole.’ Thus, to be healed is to be whole. What this means is to be integrated. What is integrated? A well and functioning mind, body, and spirit. The suffering person is thus a fragmented person, where one is divided and disassociated from self because of a number of traumatic wounds and through a number of unhealthy habits (defense mechanisms) which justify it, or worse, turn it into an “identity,” or into some other kind of “false self.”
Looking further, we note that the first three letters of the word ‘whole’ denote the word ‘who.” Thus, to be whole one must wrestle with the fundamental question of “who one is” and, how one came to be the person they think they are. In short, all of one’s conditionings, even the ones that are assumed to be “noble” or “valuable.”
Our goal is thus to explore the fundamental reality of who you are through an investigation into one’s conditionings with the aim of discovering healing through finding wholeness by integrating at the level of mind, body, and spirit.
We do so by cultivating self-awareness and wisdom that allows one to move back into the body to release tensions and any corresponding thought patterns which prevent a person from feeling, owning, and expressing their bodies natural aliveness, peace, and vitality.
